The Big Picture(s) [Karl]

An interesting article from ProteinWisdom highlights points about the American media involvement with the War on Terror.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans still rely on network TV as their primary news source. Thus, it is not surprising that by mid-2005, the Pew Research Center found that the “steady drip of negative news” created a widespread awareness of the rising American death toll that was significantly undermining support for US military operations.

I can’t believe this many Americans rely on network television for their news source.  Maybe this is a bias in who is being asked to report in surveys on what type of media people are using.  Maybe not!  It’s rather positive to see that this multimodal media use has had at least one good effect however, in that the American public appears to realize the effects of the war on the death of its young.  I wonder what “steady drip of negative news means…” and I’m wondering why, if people are watching stations that are American and therefore should be covering our WAR INVOLVEMENT fairly heavily, it’s not a TORRENTIAL GUSH of negative news?!?  I suppose only a drip makes it through after Anna Nicole Smith.
